Saul Zaentz (1921-2014) was an American film producer and record company executive. He was a three-time winner of the Academy Award for Best Picture (One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, Amadeus and The English Patient) and was a partner in Fantasy Records, at one time the largest independent jazz record label in the world.
Zaentz who produced his first movie after he turned 50, lived in San Rafael for over a decade. Anthony Minghella worked extensively on the screenplay for “The English Patient” at Zaentz’s San Rafael home.
